The Home team Red Sox would take the field first. pitching Tyler Knight The Giants would send Sam Hamilton to the plate first who would hit a pop fly to the short stop to record the fist out. Andrew Bishop batted second and would hit a ground ball to second base for out number two, Will Mayes would also hit a fly ball to the short stop for the third out as the giants fall in order.
The Giants take the field sending pitching ace Andrew Bishop to the mound. Andrew would strike the first batter out, and get the next batter to pop up where Taylor Mullins would make the catch in right center field for the second out of the inning but the Red Sox put on their rally caps as the next five (5) hitters would get on base with a walk, three (3) hits, then a hit batter, The Giants showing some first game jitters hurt themselves by making several throwing errors which allowed the Red Sox to capitalize on the bases and several players would score. For the third out a Red Sox player attempted to steal 2nd base but Giants all-league catcher, Sam Hamilton would have none of that and threw him out to end the inning. With the damage done, the Red Sox carded three (3) runs to take a 3 - 0 lead after one (1) complete inning.
The Giant offense continued to lay dormant as Logan Tinnel and Tate Mayes would go down swinging and Taylor Mullins would ground out at 1st base.
The Red Sox would send several hitters to the plate, the lead off hitter would get a base hit into right field, but would reach third base on more throwing errors by the Giants. The Giants would make a pitching change bringing in Pitcher Will Mayes. Will would keep the Red Sox batters at bay and only allowed one (1) run. After two (2) complete innings, The Giants trailed by four, Red Sox 4 - Giants 0.
The Giants sent three hitters to the plate as Dakota Benton, Billy Rapp and Marshall Newlon would all go down swinging.
The Red Sox would eliminate any hope of a comeback bid by the giants as eleven (11) batters would take their turns at the plate. Three (3) free passes and two (2) hits were all that were allowed (by the same player, Tyler Knight) that included a solo home run. The Giants again made many crucial mistakes in the field when the opportunities existed to make plays as they allowed eight (8) runs to be carded before getting out of the inning. Tate Mayes completed the inning to come in and strike out the last Red Sox batter. After Three complete innings, the Red Sox held a commanding lead of 12 - 0.
The Giants threaten with the 10 run mercer ruling, came out determined to extend the game and sent 8 batters to the plate. Andrew Bishop would reach on a free pass, then Will Mayes would card the first hit of the game. Tate Mayes would also draw a walk, then Taylor Mullins would get a base hit. The Giants would score two on a throwing error and total three (3) runs before bowing out making the score after to the top of the fourth, Red Sox 12 - Giants 3. The Red Sox would make up that Run in the bottom half of the fourth to end the game. The final Score would be Red Sox 13 - Giants 3 after four (4) complete innings.
The giants allowed more than six (6) hits and five (5) walks with numerous fielding and throwing errors. The Red Sox only allowed two (2) hits and (2) walks in the game. |
