The Giants and the Tigers are two (2) teams primed to battle it out for 2009 as they each have what is believed to be the best pitching aces in the league... The Home team Tigers would take the field first, pitching Austin Hill. The Giants would send eight (8) batters to the plate. Sam Hamilton and Andrew Bishop would each card singles to get on base, Wil Mayes would draw a walk, Logan Tinnel would also get a base hit, and Taylor Mullins would lay down a nice bunt and out run the play to first and log an RBI, he would reach third base as Dustin LaVancher would card a walk, Billy Rapp would be at the plate when, Taylor Mullins would get caught to far off third for the final out of the inning. Hamilton, Bishop and Tinnel would score during the inning with Giants jumping out for three (3) runs during the top of the first.
The Tigers would send five (5) batters up to face Giants pitching Ace Will Mayes. Matt Dodrill would hit a blooper that would fall safely to the ground over 1st base for a single. The next two (2) batters would strike out, Tiger slugger, Tyler Seagraves big bat would be respected and he given an intentional free pass to first base. With two (2)Tigers on base, Will Mayes would then settle in and strike out the very next (fifth) batter. After one complete inning the Giants led 3 - 0.
The Giants would only send three (3) hitters to face the giants in the top half of the 2nd. Billy Rapp would again take the plate and draw a walk, but later be thrown out during an attempted to steal of second base, Marshall Newlon would fall prey to the outside corner of the plate and Sam Hamilton was one step shy of from a single after hitting an infield grounder.
The Tigers also would send three (3) batters to the plate, but none of those hitters would step any closer to first as Ace Pitcher Wil Mayes sent them all back to the dugout carrying their bats. After two (2) complete innings the Score remained Giants 3 - Tigers 0.
The top half of the third, the Tigers made a pitching change, and brought out Big Gun, Tyler Seagraves, He would not disappoint as he would send the Giants back to the dug out with three (3) consecutive strikeouts. The Tigers would send only four (4) batters to the plate, Matt Dodrill would draw a walk and the others would sit down after striking out. After three complete inning the Giants remained on top 3 - 0.
The Giants could do no better during the top of the fourth and would send only four (4) batters to the plate, Taylor Mullins would be the first Giant to make contact with Seagraves and reach base on a throwing error. The other three (3) hitters, T. Mayes, Miller, and Benton would fall pray to the fastball across the plate. The Tigers would send only four (4) batters to the plate, Tyler Seagraves would draw a walk and work himself around the bases to reach third, he would later score (bad throw to third on a pick off attempt) while the others three (3) Tiger hitters were sitting down on consecutive strike outs. After four complete inning the Tigers trimmed the Giants lead to 3 - 1.
The fifth inning, the Giants started to adjust to the Seagraves fastball, although only three (3) hitters made plate appearances, Hamilton and Bishop made contact and were put out by two (2)nice defensive efforts by the Tigers 1st baseman. The Bottom of the fifth, Wil Mayes went out and struck out two (2) of the three (3) batters he faced before leaving the game. Wil would be replaced on the hill by veteran Sam Hamilton, Sam would pitch to only one (1)Tiger hitter who made contact and looped a shot over 1st base, but in a great defensive effort, Tate Mayes made a whirling over the should grab to end the inning. The score would remain 3 - 1.
The top of the sixth and final at bat for the Giants started off great as Wil Mayes hit a shot down the right field line and carded a triple. He would not make it past third as the following giants could not make contact with the ball... The Tigers at their final at bat, would also get their first batter on base as he carded a walk, Sam Hamilton would get Slugger Seagraves to pop up for the first out, Austin Hill would "K" for the 2nd out. But Drew Hicks would send a ball deep into right center for a RBI double, making the score 3 - 2. He would steal third, while Tigers hitter, Dancy would take the count full then Sam Hamilton would card his 2nd strike out of the final inning to preserve the Giants 1st victory of the year. |
